I'm agree, is so bad that despite the huge opcions to birth control and also be owner of we self many doctor reuse to do what we want because the "ethics". so, is ethics that an girl of 13 year be pregnant because don`t be ethic that she can use the pill (no the next day pill, the other one). I'm man, my partner want have babys some day but no now so we use condons, but belive me if there were a contraceptive method that allows us to enjoy more and she did not need to use, one for men, I would use them without hesitation.

Yep, even 2 years after this was posted, at the age of 39 and child-free, I am STILL looking for a doctor who will sterilise me.......the best anyone wants to offer me is Mirena....I do have to say, though, is that most doctors won't sterilise my 40 year old, male, child-free partner either, yet he has less contraceptive options than I do....

How is it ethical that doctors limit our options?

I find it odd that many posters are using this opportunity to deride people who come from large families, as though the parents of large "litters" must be incompetent. If you can provide for your children, that is the test of the number you "can" have. Should is up to the individuals. Deriding large families is deriding the freedom to choose.

That being said, I am also very disturbed by the "minimum age" and "minimum number of children" rules for women who wish to exercise their right to choose. I hope there is some legislation to change this.

As a teenage female, I have no plans to have children now, and... in all honesty? I can't picture myself having them, though I'm not dead set against it. However, I don't think I'd ever get sterilised - if only for the fear of something going wrong.
I think everyone has the right to do what they want with their bodies.
