OmniCera
Every time some actor is deemed “hot” in filmdom, they suddenly appear in EVERY role, even when the role is the polar opposite of their basic persona. I don’t dislike the guy, he’s great, but seriously, he’s no Scott Pilgrim.

He has Jude Law syndrome. Remember when he was in every movie ever?

At least Jude Law was CUTE and played DIFFERENT CHARACTERS in every movie ever…. I am pretty sure Michael Cera acts as himself in every movie he’s been in. I didn’t mind him at first (good to see someone different looking for once), but now it’s gettin ridiculous. He should stop before people start hating him…….

No, it’s not Jude Law syndrome. It’s Benafflecksia.
Point being, he was in one or two really good movies (Juno + Superbad / Good Will Hunting + Chasing Amy), doesn’t have the range to go outside of being typecast, and now feels he has to redeem himself with a comic book movie and a romantic comedy that strut his leading man qualities (Daredevil + Jersey Girl / Scott Pilgrim + Paper Heart).
Granted, I’m ignoring Michael Cera’s illustrious TV career, as well as Ben Affleck’s prior film roles, but it’s a pretty direct comparison that doesn’t bode well for Scott Pilgrim. On the other hand, it pretty much cements Jonah Hill as the Matt Damon of the equation, so he’s set for life.

It happens a lot with voice actors, too: If they become popular thanks to a role, suddenly they’re everywhere.

Brilliant. I was wondering why he’d been popping up everywhere lately. I can’t wait to see him take over Tom Cruise’s roles in action movies, even though, as other commenters have said, he has the acting flexibility of a mollusk.

This reminds me of those pictures floating around the Web where Mr. Beans’ face is photoshopped onto various portraits…
