Real Art!
In addition to working on several mini books for upcoming festivals, I got brought to a figure drawing class in Jersey City the other day by our good pal, Auilix. This was their second hosting of such an activity ala Dr. Sketchy’s, but it was really well put-together. They even had raffle prizes and fancy cheese! It was a ton of fun and I met some super cool cats in the vicinity (Jersey City is like 20 minutes from New York City).
It was my first figure drawing class ever, and let me tell you—drawing real people that breathe and move is way harder than it looks (at least for me). I usually draw people I know in a very cartoony fashion, and while there’s nothing wrong with that for the medium, I do want to get more classical training if I can. After a few tries I think I got the hang of it a bit and drew a few nice things. I gave one to Auilix for her fridge (I’m flattered!
)
I sometimes have a hard time calling myself an artist. But, I do do art stuff and I have a big ass ego, so I must fit the criteria standard for artists.
Once I move on from my current 9-5 job, I will be putting more serious effort both into doing comics and regular artsy stuff. Maybe I’ll even post it here for all y’all.

Do post the artsy stuff!
There is also an emo artist stereotype (sad girls in snow, etc.); I’m not sure an outwardly big ego is required.

Drawing real people IS hard! I feel your pain!
I think we’d all be keen to see more of your arts.
