Le Scandal part 3 (final)
So, I wanted to see what everyone was talking about. I anticipated it being a pretty lousy movie, but had no idea the extent to which it was terrible. I’ve been amused by terrible movies (especially through MST3k), but it wasn’t even fun-bad. I will never understand how something like THAT can become an international sensation. Sadly, the weed we smoked to make it bearable only made the already slow movie take FOREVER.

It was the book that got all the attention, not the movie. But, yeah, the target audience is basically 12-year-old girls going “OMG Edward Is Hot!!!”.

Hahaha the book looks worse.
“Edward” would be way hotter without the white makeup. And knowing that he pathetically waited 100 years to pop his cherry with Lil’ Miss No Personality.

My brother’s girlfriend was reading Twilight, and when I asked her about it, “Edward is hot” was basically her entire reason for liking the book.
Basically, it’s softcore porn aimed at women and young girls.
Also, Bella’s lack of personality is a feature, not a bug; like a Silent Protagonist in a video game, she’s a blank slate for readers to project themselves onto, and Edward is a fantasy of a perfect boyfriend as imagined by a Mormon housewife. (And part of the book’s appeal is that you can skim through the parts you don’t like and pay more attention to the parts that you do; it’s harder to do that with a movie.)

Thank you for taking one for the team. I might have watched it without your warning. Even most bad films are good for a laugh, but some just leave me feeling guilty for the brain cells I’ve condemned to hold cultural detritus. Poltergeist 3 struck me that way.

Yeah, I recently did the same thing. Now I did actually find the first one a bit amusing in that “this is horrible” way. But ‘New Moon’, my gosh. There are few movies that I literally get mad at.
