The child screamed and cried for the entire flight from New York to Minnesota (one of our layovers to Victoria, Canada). Poor Colin had one hell of a cold, and just wanted to get some sleep. The mother did the token “shh” at the baby for the duration, but made no attempts to walk it around or whatever it is that mothers do to try to shut their kids up. She also jammed the should-have-checked-it baby seat behind our seats so that there wasn’t even a chance of leaning the seat back a smidge. I understand that it must be a nightmare to travel with a baby, but shit, knock the thing out for a bit or something. That’s why they invented those small bottles of liquor for your raucous crotch goblins.

It was a great trip, though, once we got to Canada, and now I am back in my beloved New York to tell everyone about the seals I fed in the Oak Bay Marina of Victoria, Vancouver island’s capital city (a tad north of Seattle).

Look ahead to more globs about Canukia, complete with photos and jealous ramblings about socialised health care!
