So, at the forums for DarkFalls (which is, I believe, an MMORPG), my now-infamous health care comic (#192: Privatization) was brought up and sparked a pretty heated debate (with detractors even more angry and in some cases, less eloquent than the debate in the comments section of the actual comic).

Woweezowee. I won’t put too much of it here, besides being called a “fucking retard” (at least I’m getting some action!), but the original poster, Abremalist, said “for once, she got it right”. Whatdya mean “for once?!” oh deary me…

Yes, kids: the conservatives think that us bleeding hearts are now goin to kill old people and disabled people with the money we’re using to insure old people and disabled people. Cus that’s just what we do. We dole out welfare and get riled up about social justice issues JUST so that we can line up our charity targets and shoot them.

Here’s one of a thousand articles talking about how our favorite bag of nuts, Sarah Palin, has gotten into the spotlight again, saying that Obama wants to kill her downs-syndome baby.

I know I’ve had a few SDJC comics about this issue, and I don’t want to turn the comic into my “omg what the hell is wrong with people” podium, but I just feel compelled to point this one out in my usual, starky, way.

Health Care debate continues

I just watched part of Fox’s “Universal Nightmare”, yet another strange piece of somewhat outlandish “fair and balanced” reporting. While everyone I’ve met from countries such as Canada, England, France, and Germany, where the government provides everyone with fair access to health care says they’ve never had to wait for needed care, the report basically implies there is a 3 year wait to see any doctor (they literally said this on the program).
Now, I’ve never been a citizen of any of these countries, but when my boyfriend needed to see a doctor without an appointment (he had the flu), I didn’t have enough time to even skim a magazine before he was seen. Then, we had to wait MINUS 30 minutes for his appointment at a vision specialist, who had the audacity to take him in EARLY for his appointment! Three years? Three minutes? The difference is barely noticeable.

Another anecdote I can point to is that I had a “girl” problem in Germany when I was there years ago. I wasn’t a citizen— I was just on vacation, but I was seen immediately and had to pay a mere $5 for the visit and $10 for the required Rx.

Anyway, after seeing the Fox Special on the “Universal Nightmare”, I am reminded of this equally disingenuous piece of propaganda:
