Bung

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

So, today I was looking for examples of fancy antique-style drawings of arrows for a project I am working on. Image searching is always just a little frustrating, but I go onto Google’s image search and try “1800′s illustration symbols”, “antique arrow symbols”, etc. Still not quite finding the inspiration I need to make my own little fancy arrow, I search for “1800s fancy arrow”.

Above the results, I notice a standard Google ad for Bing!, a Microsoft search engine of sorts. It said, simply “Pictures Arrows: www.Bing.com”. Now, I watch a fair amount of TV, and I have seen a number of rather entertaining commercials.

A cure for some kind of searching problem? Since I hadn’t checked out Bing! before, I gave it a click. I am brought to the results of Bing!’s cure for my search overload for “arrows”:

bung?

In a word: fail. I don’t think “Just Bing it” will become common parlance any time soon.
